[Reverent Observations 1]

Recent Media Events

Many people say the petroleum industry in general is on the way out.  That's doubtful, because as it gets more scarce and/or costly to produce, its price will rise, making it profitable enough to continue extracting for a long time before it's completely gone.

Imagine though, only a century ago, the main use of oil was for lubrication.  Today, the main uses of petroleum are two:  Climate control (heating & cooling) and "synthetic labor."

The first has enabled an unnatural number of people to live in places where lack of natural resources would make it otherwise inhospitable to human habitation.  Or at least, large-scale habitation.

The second use of petroleum has made possible three generations of people (so far) who don't "need" to learn old-time skills any more.  This is one reason those skills aren't even discussed in "old" library books any more, except to demonstrate "how primitive" our immediate ancestors were.

It's apparent that a new era is creeping upon us, in which we will have lost a great deal of our personal freedom, our wealth and our security, because we traded them all for the short-term comforts promised by all manner of these public and private "officials."  The only thing left to trade will be ourselves, and our neighbors.

Yeah, that's right, our neighbors.  Sad to say, people have historically been willing to give up their neighbors' right to the pursuit of happiness, in order to gain little privileges or profits of their own today, not realizing that in the process they were also trading in their own autonomy.

A COMFORTING THOUGHT:  Did you know that self-sufficient ruralites are largely irrelevant to the power-hungry?  Even the former Iron Curtain ruralites (at least the ones who were basically self-sufficient) were mostly ignored by the rapacious communists.

It's everyone's duty to learn to provide a secure life to his or her family.  You too, can do this by reading Husbandry.

Reverent Observations 1

According to the Bible, after making a water-covered earth, the Creator made light, and divided it from the darkness, thus establishing the principle of the passage of time, in the "Einsteinian" sense.

Shortly thereafter, He split the water that was covering the earth into 2 parts:  One part remained to cover the earth, but another layer, probably at least a few feet thick, was placed where today's "ozone layer" is, way out in the outer atmosphere, encasing the earth in a frozen "shell."

This would have had three main effects:

First, the entire earth would have had less fluctuation in temperature, such as we see in modern gardening devices, like "wall-o-water" plant protectors.  It has been shown that these products extend the growing season of tomatoes by 6 to 8 weeks, despite frosty outdoor temperatures.  That's far more than could be done by mere cloches or cold frames.

Second, the most harmful of the sun's rays would be filtered, making all living things grow more healthily, and abundantly.

Third, the "recycling" of the life-giving gases and vapors of earth would thus be more certain, so the overall supply of life-sustaining ingredients would be much more readily available.

Ultimately, improvement in the human condition rests in the application of these and related facts, because at the heart of human health and happiness we find always the satisfaction of life's essentials: food, shelter, sanitation.

Never having proved profitable in any way, or for any purpose, the dogma of "evolution" in reality has mainly only been a means to steal "the good life" away from the human race, by emphasizing and rationalizing the "inevitability" of limitations on food growth, etc.  Its principal use has been by Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro, Mao, and a long string of others, in justifying the infliction of misery and death on people who got in their way.  Oh, yes, and by those who desire to direct our lives at home, as well.  It has been no better than any other state-sponsored religion in that respect, and probably worse than some others.

Happily, by studying the Creator's "instruction manual" (the Bible) daily, and using it with faith and elbow grease, you can help insure your success at living from the bounty of the land, as many others have throughout history.

In future Reverent Observations, we'll reveal little-known Bible facts that continue to show how to achieve "the good life" in the country, without over-work.
